Mr. Najib Saab, AFED secretary general, presented a speech at the regional meeting of ESCWA's Expert Group on Green Technology Investments and Access to Sustainable Financing in the Arab Region, held at ESCWA headquarters in Beirut on 4-5 March 2019. The theme of Saab speech was: green development funding does not only come from fresh money, but mainly from redirecting of existing budget allocations from conventional investments. Private investments to be attracted. Coherent policy and regulatory framework needed. Diversify economy, revamp taxation, mobilize savings through development bonds, and eradicate corruption.
