As a non-governmental regional organization grouping environmental NGOs, academic institutions, media and businesses, AFED membership is open to all those who subscribe to the goals of sustainable development in the Arab countries. The main requirement is acceptance and adoption of AFED’s mission statement, and a commitment towards endeavoring to help achieve AFED’s goals. Members are expected to actively support and participate in AFED programmes. Membership in AFED is institutional.
Individuals can only be members of specialized commissions, and will be considered associates.
Governmental national, regional or international bodies active in environment and sustainable development can join as observers. Individuals belonging to government bodies may join AFED’s board and commissions in their personal capacity.
AFED can provide members a platform through which to reach a wider audience, in both the public and private sectors, while allowing networking and exchanging environmental knowledge and data, through the sharing of experience and expertise. It also cooperates with similar initiatives around the world. Membership allows access to and participation in a unique network of leading and influential voices from across the corporate, media, academic, NGO, and public sectors, thereby allowing members to further their knowledge of emerging trends as well as business strategies. While serving a good social cause, working together in such a unique partnership allows members to better tackle the challenges of an increasingly complex world.
Corporate Member Benefits
Prospective members and observers must submit their applications to AFED’s Executive Committee, which will consider each case on the basis of the set criteria. Membership continues as long as a member fulfills the criteria and pays the annual dues as set by the Executive Committee.
