AFED participated as co-sponsor in SwitchMed-Connect, the First Mediterranean Forum on Sustainable Consumption and Production, held in Barcelona on 29-30 October. Organized by the Regional Activity Center on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC), the event attracted 400 delegates who presented practical sustainable initiatives, covering food production, energy, water, tourism, buildings, transport, fashion design and other sectors. 40 young entrepreneurs received Eco-Design Awards, including winners from Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan. Secretary General Najib Saab presented preview of the results of AFED's public opinion survey on consumption patterns in Arab countries. the Arabic edition of its the Mediterranean Footprint report, to which AFED contributed, was launched at the event by the Global Footprint Network.
