Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Awadi is a Physician and the ExecutivSecretary of the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME). He has served his country on several occasions as Minister of Public Health and Minister of Planning, as well as Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs.
Throughout his career he has been at the forefront of environmental affairs in Kuwait in an official capacity.
Al-Awadi was a member of WHO Executive Board for two terms and has served in different capacities on many WHO committees and advisory boards dedicated to public health issues including alcohol and drug abuse, smoking, HIV-Aids, and immunization.
Educated in Lebanon, Scotland and the US where he attained his MPH from the School of Public Health, Harvard. Dr Awadi is holder of several honorary degrees and a clutch of major awards from around the world.
He has devoted his life to public health issues by serving on many committees and in numerous organizations. He is widely published in his field.
